Exploding beer

However, I didn’t plan for a typical power outage to completely sink my central AC one day while I was out of town

I saw something funny on Netflix the other day that has had me chuckling ever since. It was a show supposedly set in a craft brewery, and the characters stupidly talked about how they smoked pot all day and skateboarded. You know, they “really just had one rule around there – to have fun.” It was ridiculous. I can tell you, because I work in a craft brewery myself – it is not that laid back and fun. One huge benefit of the job, however, is the amount of free beer that I get to bring home for me and my friends. In fact, I get such a large amount from each and every batch that I can’t even drink it fast enough. That’s how we wound up with a designated beer closet in our house, and that’s how I made the biggest mess of my life when the central AC stopped working last month. We’re in the final throes of summer now as we speak, which means it’s been over 90 degrees and 80% humidity for the past 4 months or so at this point. The climate around here is brutal, and there is no choice but to operate indoor air quality controls to have a livable home in this region. If your AC unit is broken down, so are you. I thought I was taking fine care of my own central cooling system, especially since I supplemented its cooling power with extra window AC units throughout the house. However, I didn’t plan for a typical power outage to completely sink my central AC one day while I was out of town. When I returned home and found the indoor air temperature was over 90 degrees, I also knew I was going to find a sticky mess pouring out of the beer closet. My beer stocks expanded in the heat and humidity and all my reserves were now pooling on the floor.
