Took summer job, learned a ton

I’m a glutton for working.

I don’t know what it was about my upbringing, but I turned out to be a real working fanatic as an adult.

If I have spare time, I want to be busy and I want to be earning money. I never turn down a job. I like to pile part-time work on top of more part-time work, so that none of my jobs ever seem too long or boring. I end up with a lot of strange positions due to these personal preferences. Usually I’m pretty indifferent to the work I’m doing, but every once in a while I find a job that really piques my interest. Last summer, for instance, I randomly found myself getting deeply immersed in the world of commercial HVAC repair. The venture all began when I answered a mysterious craigslist ad for a “General Assistant” who would be responsible for answering phones and making routine trips about town. I soon found out that the position was for a local HVAC dealer when I agreed to take the work. Within a few weeks, my life had changed completely due to this heating and cooling specialist. I started out answering phones and dispatching ventilation experts to take care of the commercial heating and air conditioning contracts we held. Within a few weeks, however, I was going out on the job with the most seasoned HVAC contractors as a personal assistant. The work was so satisfying! Soon, I had gained a ton of working knowledge simply from being present as we serviced and repaired enormous furnaces and air conditioning systems. It didn’t take long after that for me to quit all my part-time gigs in order to work at the HVAC shop full-time.
